Frank Whittle and Hans von Ohain
The Wright Brothers changed history when they made the first self-powered propeller plane. As the engines, propeller blades, and other materials of the propeller plane became more advanced, the propeller planes became faster, some flew as fast as four hundred miles per hour, but it was clear that another type of engine would need to be invented for planes to go faster. Rocket engines where considered as a replacement because they could fly really fast really high in the air. They didn't catch because they couldn't fly long distances because they ran out of rocket fuel to fast which was a problem if you where trying to cross over the atlantic ocean, or if you where trying to save money. Two scientists had ideas about how to create this tech and their names where Sir Frank Whittle of England, and Hans von Ohain of Germany. They, independently, created jet engines within weeks of each other.
